Aldec Automates Active-HDL to Provide Complete Web-Based Documentation SupportHenderson Nevada, October 2, 2002 -- Aldec, Inc., a pioneer in mixed language simulation and advanced design tools for FPGA and ASIC devices, today announced the ability for Active-HDL users to export all components of a design, including graphical representations and waveform diagrams with simulation results and input vectors, to an HTML format in order to best document their designs. Using Export2HTML, users can export designs into an external HTML file, which can be viewed on any web browser including Internet Explorer® and Netscape®. The complete hierarchy of the design and its graphical representations are maintained in the HTML document, allowing users from any design lab or location to view, print and utilize all aspects of the design. Because HTML format is the only file format universally accepted by various platforms, operating systems and browsers, Export2HTML is the ideal way to share data and document the progression of designs.
Share Designs Worldwide via Web Browser Export2HTML aids in documenting any combination of mixed HDL design; the HTML files can be shared with team members and colleagues who may not have a current connection to the Active-HDL tool. The HTML file maintains the same structure and hierarchy as if it were being viewed directly in the Active-HDL environment without necessitating execution of the Active-HDL application. Users can fully navigate through the HTML files and the web-based version of the design looks identical to a design opened directly in the Design Browser of Active-HDL.
Maintains Navigation Paths Export2HTML allows users to switch between views of block or state diagrams and their corresponding source code and can even “push” into fubs or symbols of a block diagram or jump into the hierarchical state of finite state machines. Export2HTML maintains the ability to zoom into graphical representations of the design for expanded viewing. All graphic files can be exported into BMP, JPG, PNG or GIF files depending on the user’s needs.
View Designs from Any Platform Export2HTML’s ability to be viewed on any web browser makes it a universal solution for users to share their designs. The HTML files can be viewed on any platform to ensure maximum flexibility between designers or design teams. Because designs can be sent as an HTML file instead of sending the design in its entirety, the file sizes are much easier to manage and users don’t have to worry about disclosing proprietary information since the HTML files provide read-only attributes.
Customize for Design Documentation Users can customize the HTML files by providing additional information on the design as well as including the company’s web and contact information. Users can select which specific files are exported into HTML, or choose that the entire design be converted to give a complete idea of the design’s progress.
Availability Export2HTML is included in Active-HDL 5.2’s XE, PE and EE configurations. Active-HDL 5.2 is available now and can be ascribed to either a floating or node-lock license for no additional cost. Active-HDL 5.2 includes Multi-Design Workspace, HDL Editor, State Machine Editor, and Block Diagram & Schematic Editors, Automatic Testbench Generation, Waveform Viewer/Editor, and a choice of VHDL, Verilog or mixed VHDL/Verilog/EDIF simulation. All sales include one year of product maintenance. To receive your FREE evaluation copy, contact Aldec at www.aldec.com.
